Fostering recruitment and assessment
The team are dedicated to recruiting our own in-house foster carers for our children.
Involved throughout the fostering process from taking interested enquiries from the public and screening to full assessments of prospective carers potential suitability to foster.
The team also attend fostering panel for recommendations to approve and will prepare these foster carers through induction and training.
Fostering support team
The fostering support team provides ongoing support to approved foster carers and connected carers (e.g. family and friend carers). Ensuring each meet the fostering regulations and national minimum standards, offering support and direction to equip foster carers to the meet needs of our children.
Supervising social workers within our expanded support to foster carers team work with Blackpool’s foster carers to provide care to our children, which supports them to experience secure and stable attachments, happy and healthy childhoods and great future outcomes.
Special Guardianship Orders (SGO) and Connected Carers
The team are responsible for dual assessment of Special Guardianship Orders (SGO) and connected carers for our children (often referred to as friend and family carers).
The team work within plans of all levels to offer support, and help to access the dedicated SGO support fund.
Adoption
The team undertake adoption planning for children in our care, and moving forward with care plans of adoption for children who have placement orders.
The adoption service for the local area is provided by the regional adoption agency for Blackpool and Lancashire. Together they support families who wish to adopt through a rigorous assessment and suitability process, helping children who cannot return to their own families find a home for life.
