We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Finance Visitor to join our team. This key role involves conducting financial assessments, advising customers on charges related to care services, and ensuring the Council maximises income while maintaining excellent service standards.

  • Property Visits: Visit customer homes and residential care facilities to verify financial information, complete benefit forms, and identify opportunities for income maximisation.
  • Financial Assessments: Process assessments resulting from visits, calculate service charges in line with legislation, and register property charges where necessary.
  • Customer Support: Advise customers and their families on the financial implications of care services, including community and residential care charges.
  • Debt Management: Initiate contact with customers to address debts, review recovery options, and take action in line with Council policies.
  • Revenue Maximisation: Act within guidelines to provide advice and support aimed at maximising income collection for the Council.
  • Collaboration: Plan and organise visits while working closely with team members, internal departments, and external agencies such as the Department of Work and Pensions.
  • Problem Solving: Resolve escalated and complex queries from internal and external customers efficiently and professionally.
  • Records Management: Maintain accurate and high-quality records for all visits and interactions.
  • Invoice Management: Create and issue accurate Social Care invoices, ensuring timely payments and revenue optimisation for the Council.
  • Compliance: Adhere to safe working practices and uphold all relevant standards and policies.

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong understanding of financial assessment processes, legislation, and revenue collection policies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for liaising with customers, families, and external agencies.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills to calculate service charges and manage debt recovery.
  • Ability to manage and prioritise a varied workload efficiently.
  • High level of professionalism and attention to detail in record-keeping and case management.
  • Knowledge of benefits, awards, and financial support systems is a plus.
