We have relocation package in place to provide financial support to successful external candidates who currently reside more than 200 miles from Blackpool and who have applied for a role where relocation assistance has been offered.
The aim of this scheme is to attract the best talent to Blackpool and minimise the financial burden of accepting employment in business-critical roles.
Relocation
Contribution to travel expenses for any mileage in excess of 100 miles per day, up to the value of the relocation package
Please note — this assistance is discretionary and is not a contractual entitlement and the council reserves the right to withdraw from this policy at any time.
To qualify, the following conditions must be met:
The successful candidate must be moving a minimum distance of 50 miles and move to within 75 miles journey distance of their place of work, or have chosen as an alternative to commute between 100 and 150 miles per day.
There is only one claim per household
The successful candidate does not reside outside the UK
The successful candidate must indicate an intention to take advantage of the scheme at some time between acceptance of the offer of employment and within one month of the commencement of duties.
The council will pay up to a total of £8,000 for successful candidates relocating to within 75 miles journey distance of their workplace. This will be subject to production of receipts in line with the HMRC tax free allowances and as such these amounts will not attract tax and NI deductions:
A monthly allowance will be agreed and paid via payroll based upon the daily commuting miles between 100 and 150 per day at a rate of 52.2 pence per mile up to a total value of £8,000 gross. This payment will be subject to HMRC taxation and National Insurance rules in relation to mileage.
Successful candidates who request relocation assistance will only be offered this if they agree to repay some, or all, of the amount in the event they voluntarily end their employment, within two years from the date of payment of the relocation expenses.
Those offered relocation assistance will be required to sign an agreement to this effect. The amount payable is reduced proportionally and is as follows:
Leaving 0 to 6 months from date of expenses paid 100%
Leaving 7 to 12 months from date of expenses paid 50%
Leaving 13 to 18 months from date of expenses paid 25%
Leaving 19 to 24 months from date of expenses paid, reducing from 25% by one‐sixth of 25% for each completed month up to 24 months
The timescale starts from the date of payment of the expenses and if the successful candidate does not relocate within 6 months, he/she will be asked to repay all, or part of any relocation assistance given.
