If you love a challenge and enjoy developing people and services, working with partners and the community, listening to those with lived experience to better meet the needs of one of the most deprived communities in the land, building aspiration, confidence and achievement, helping people to live their best life, we have the role for you.
Come and join our Blackpool team, where you can use your compassionate leadership skills, coaching style and extensive experience and knowledge to inspire and support our workforce and partners to really make a difference to outcomes for our population in relation to a broad range of adult social care services. You will be an inspirational manager/leader and creative problem solver, who will lead, guide and support our workforce, and listen to the experiences of those we are here to support, to deliver a responsive, legally compliant service that people and organisations in Blackpool value.
Blackpool has a strong history of collaborative partnership working with statutory organisations and the wider community sector. The post-holder will be expected to work collaboratively at all levels, be competent in advising in their area of expertise, be skilled in resolving conflict or differences or achieving a consensus approach, and be confident enough to offer robust, evidenced challenge where appropriate, at all times maintaining a focus on the people we serve.
You should be an experienced manager/leader with significant professional experience of working in adult social care services, including safeguarding assurance and professional practice development, and have an in-depth knowledge of the core business requirements relating to these areas.
This post is our senior leader in these areas, and is the Principal Social Worker overseeing good practice across adult services. As such, the successful candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of all relevant legislation and its practical application in an operational setting, as well as what good practice looks like, sufficient to enable you to support and guide others to be the best that we can be.
In return, you will be joining a leadership team that prides itself on supporting each other and achieving great things together, in a Unitary Authority small enough to be agile in decision making and 'doing the right thing' for our population, supported by a wider officer and member structure that takes an active and productive interest in our delivery, issues, and developments on behalf of Blackpool's population.
Blackpool is a great place to work, to live, and to enjoy our many leisure activities and open spaces. Economic development in the town is building confidence and aspiration and bringing new opportunities, and we are working on Levelling Up and reducing the level of disadvantage in health, wellbeing and life chances in the town. We need leaders like you who can not only ensure we are meeting health and care needs, but also be a part of ensuring all our population can thrive and take advantage of the many opportunities this brings.
